Counseling Values

The contains two separate discussions. Each discussion need to be at least 250 words and 1 cited source, APA format. Reminder that all assignments will be submitted through safe assigned.

Assignment 1/Discussion 1:

The best counselors are aware of their personal values and how these impact their work with clients. Please discuss some of the values you hold that you think will help you be a good counselor. Please also discuss some values you hold that might be problematic in your role as counselor.

Assignment 2/Discussion 2:

After watching the documentary about Freud, please share your thoughts about Freud’s view of human nature. What parts of his theory do you agree with? What parts do you perhaps find problematic?

Eating Disorders

(Cultures idealizing thinness, pressure from peers to fit in, and constant images of bodily perfection shown by mass media, along with additional physiological and psychological factors, can combine to create the perfect storm for adolescents struggling with eating disorders. For this Assignment, choose one peer-reviewed research study about eating disorders that focuses on a minority group of adolescents. Consider connections between physiological development, adolescence, and eating disorders.)

Submit a 2- to 4-page paper for which you articulate a position on eating disorders in adolescent girls from diverse racial and cultural experiences. Explain how the position is related to the biological and/or physiological development as well as psychological development of adolescent girls. Further, explain how such findings can inform evidence-based social work practice. Please use the Learning Resources and the research study you identified to support your answer.

Analyzing Focus Group Findings

Imagine that two focus groups have been conducted in an Asian American and immigrant community in a large urban city. The rationale of conducting the qualitative study was because it has been noted that many Asian Americans and immigrants are reluctant to seek mental health services. To further understand this issue, service providers including social workers, counselors, doctors, and nurses were recruited to discuss the barriers in implementing mental health services targeted to Asian Americans and immigrants. After the focus groups were transcribed, two research assistants were hired to conduct a content analysis of the transcripts. Refer to the Week 5 Handout: Content Analysis of Focus Groups.

As the social worker, you have been asked to analyze the focus group data and are charged with working with an advisory board in the community to formulate social work practice recommendations using the ecological model.

To prepare for this Assignment, review Week 5 Handout: Content Analysis of Focus Groups.

**Use headers and intext references**

Submit a 3-page report of the following:

  1. Abstract
  2. Discuss the themes found in the Week 5 Handout: Content Analysis of Focus Groups. Based on this data, what is your analysis of the current barriers to services?
  3. Create two social work recommendations to address the current barrier and explain how the recommendation proposed addresses the findings.
  4. Discuss how you would collaborate with the research stakeholders (e.g. service providers and community members) to ensure that the data are interpreted accurately and that the practice recommendations made will be culturally appropriate.
  5. Critically reflect on your own culture and explain how your cultural values and beliefs may have influenced how you interpreted the focus group data. What specific cultural knowledge do you think you need to obtain to conduct culturally sensitive research with this group?
  6. Conclusion

Support the assignment with references using assigned readings and/or additional scholarly literature.

Discussion: Group Dynamics And Family Dynamics

SOCW 6121 Week 5 Discussion Post: Group Dynamics and Family Dynamics

When working with families and groups the priority is for the social worker to understand the process that is taking place.  In both situations there is the overt (clearly stated) dynamics and the covert (hidden) dynamics.  The content (what is being said) in both settings is what is open and stated.  The process (how it is being said) is the unspoken information; what is underneath the interaction is what the social worker needs to explore in both groups and family systems.

For this Discussion, watch the video segments of a group and a family session provided in required resources.

Provide a 300-word Discussion Post covering the following Topics, Content, and Headings:

  • Describe the group dynamic (communication, cohesion, social integration, influence) of the group shown      in the required media.
  • Explain how this group’s      dynamics may influence treatment.
  • A description of the family      dynamic (communication, cohesion, social integration, influence) of the      family shown in the required media.
  • Explain how this family’s      dynamics may influence treatment.
  • Explain any similarities or      differences when assessing dynamics in a group versus a family and how      those dynamics may affect treatment.

Must contain at least 3 references and citations from the following resources. Must reference Toseland, Drumm, and Psychotherapy.net 2011a and 2006a.

Statistics In Health

  1. Present two different types of data, or variables, used in the health field. Examples could be blood pressure, temperature, pH, pain rating scales, pulse oximetry, % hematocrit, minute respiration, gender, age, ethnicity, etc.
  2. Classify each of your variables as qualitative or quantitative and explain why they fall into the category that you chose.
  3. Also, classify each of the variables as to their level of measurement–nominal, ordinal, interval or ratio–and justify your classifications.
  4. Which type of sampling could you use to gather your data? (stratified, cluster, systematic, and convenience sampling)

Nursing Illness & Disease Management Across Life Span Profile

Week 5 Project

Instructions

Creating a Plan of Care

Utilizing the information you have gathered over the last four weeks (week1-4 attached) regarding the specific illness group you identified, this week, you will create a plan of care for your chronic illness group.

In a Microsoft Word document of 5-6 pages formatted in APA style, (this page requirement includes the holistic care plan). Include the following in your plan:

·  Provide a brief introduction describing the chronically ill group you selected and rationale for selecting this illness and the participants.

o  Clearly identify the Healthy People 2020 topic chosen and why this topic was selected.

·  Develop a holistic plan of care including patient, family and friends acceptance of the diagnosis, coping and impact on plan of care.

·  Summarize the information gathered in each week (Weeks 1–4) over 2 to 3 pages. This is should not to be copied and pasted from previous assignments.

·  Create a care plan for your chronic illness group organized using the following headings:

o  Nursing Diagnoses (at least 3 related to topic and interview results)

o  Assessment Data (objective and subjective)

o  Interview Results

o  Desired Outcomes

o  Evaluation Criteria

o  Actions and Interventions

o  Evaluation of Patient Outcomes

·  Identify strategies for the family or caregiver in the care plan and provide your rationale on how they will work.

Support your responses with examples and information from library resources, textbook and lectures.

·  Papers are professional papers so you should use third person.  Try not to use first or second person when completing.  Review APA format.

Please note that the title and reference pages should not be included in the total page count of your paper.

On a separate references page, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format. Support your work, using your course lectures and textbook readings. Helpful APA guides and resources are available in the  University Online Library. Below are guides that are located in the library and can be accessed and downloaded via the  University Online Citation Resources: APA Style page. The American Psychological Association website also provides detailed guidance on formatting, citations, and references at APA Style.

Assessing And Diagnosing Patients With Disruptive, Impulse-Control, Conduct, Dissociative, And Somatic Symptom-Related Disorders

Assessing patients with symptoms related to the disorders you are exploring this week pose some particular challenges for which the PMHNP should be prepared. Disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders may involve aggressive outbursts, anger, deceitfulness, and unpredictability. Eliciting the needed interview and history data requires special care, self-control, and deliberateness on the part of the clinician. Several structured or semi-structured clinical interview tools exist for patients and, in the case of minors, for parents as well.

For this Assignment, you will be assigned to a case study by your Instructor and will need to complete a Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation on the patient in the case. The case will be related to any of the disruptive, impulse-control, conduct, dissociative, or somatic symptom-related disorders.

To Prepare:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources      and consider the insights they provide.
  • Download the Comprehensive      Psychiatric Evaluation Template, which you will use to complete this      Assignment. Also review the Comprehensive Psychiatric      Evaluation Exemplar to see an example of a completed evaluation

To Prepare:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources and consider the      insights they provide.
  • Download the Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation      Template, which you will use to complete this Assignment. Also review the      Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation Exemplar to see an example of a      completed evaluation document.
  • you will be assigned to a specific video case study for      this Assignment. View your assigned video case, keeping the requirements      of the documentation template in mind.
  • Consider what history would be necessary to collect      from this patient.
  • Consider what interview questions you would need to ask      this patient.
  • Identify at least three possible differential diagnoses      for the patient.

Complete and submit your Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation, including your differential diagnosis and critical-thinking process to formulate primary diagnosis.

Incorporate the following into your responses in the template:

  • Subjective: What      details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and      symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? What is the duration      and severity of their symptoms? How are their symptoms impacting their      functioning in life?
  • Objective: What      observations did you make during the psychiatric assessment?
  • Assessment: Discuss      the patient’s mental status examination results. What were your      differential diagnoses? Provide a minimum of three possible diagnoses with      supporting evidence, listed in order from highest priority to lowest      priority. Compare the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for each differential      diagnosis and explain what DSM-5 criteria rules out the differential      diagnosis to find an accurate diagnosis. Explain the critical-thinking      process that led you to the primary diagnosis you selected. Include      pertinent positives and pertinent negatives for the specific patient case.
  • Reflection notes: What      would you do differently with this client if you could conduct the session      over? Also include in your reflection a discussion related to      legal/ethical considerations (demonstrate critical thinking beyond      confidentiality and consent for treatment!), health promotion and disease      prevention taking into consideration patient factors (such as age, ethnic      group, etc.), PMH, and other risk factors (e.g., socioeconomic, cultural      background, etc.).

Bipolar Disorder

Examine Case Study: An Asian American Woman. Diagnosis-Bipolar Disorder. You will be asked to make three decisions concerning the medication to prescribe to this patient. Be sure to consider factors that might impact the patient’s pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes.

At each decision point, you should evaluate all options before selecting your decision and moving throughout the exercise. Before you make your decision, make sure that you have researched each option and that you evaluate the decision that you will select. Be sure to research each option using the primary literature.
