Topic 5: Mergers and Acquisitions Overview Research on mergers and acquisitions (M&As) is progressing rapidly. An understanding of mergers and acquisitions as a discipline is increasingly important in modern business. A common view of M&A transactions is that they enable companies to get competitive advantage from the target companies to improve efficiency and to enhance growth. The aim of this empirical study is to use firm-level or country-level data to either investigate the performance of the most recent wave of M&As or provide a new insight into the determinants of the M&A to see whether they have imposed significant impacts on M&A transactions.
