Word count 4,000 word maximum. The word count includes everything – the text, in text references, tables, and figures. The word count does not include reference list or appendices. You should provide your word count on the front page.
Assignment type Students in pre-determined groups (min. 4, max. 6 students per group) will undertake a specific project critically evaluating the key trends in a chosen financial services market, considering all external and internal aspects that impact the market
Assignment structure and format –       Report must be word-processed in font size 14, font style, Arial, and 1.5 line spacing.

–       Spaces must be inserted between paragraphs.

–       Page numbers must be inserted throughout.

–       The page orientation must be ‘portrait’.

–       Margins on all sides of the page must be no less than 2.54 cm.

–       The “Assessment sheet” (provided in the UniHub, Assessment 2 holder) must be attached in front of your report. Or use the format provided in the UniHub.

–       Exceeding the word count will result in a penalty of 10% of your marks for your work.

Concise summary of the whole report 5% This section is not an introduction. You need to summarise the whole report so that here, you have the introduction, the main body, and the conclusion. Please be concise. Executive summary should be NO MORE than 300 words.
Concise introduction 5% Just state what you are going to write. Please be concise, and it should be NO MORE than 300 words. If you can write the introduction in 200 words, do it.
Identification of the new product opportunity, the target market, and their characteristics. Justification of your choice. 25% You need to identify the new product opportunity from the analysis of marketing environment, and subsequently the SWOT analysis you conducted. Please make sure that the relevant analysis of marketing environment and the SWOT analysis are presented in the appendix, and are referred in the main body.

You also need to describe the target market who they are. Make sure you justify your choice of the target market. Relevant chapters are 8 and 9 of the core textbook.

Marketing strategy 25% You need to outline and to give details of the marketing activities such as pricing, promotional and distribution methods that will take place. Please be thorough as this section counts 25%. Incorporate as much theory in each strategy as possible.

 

Pricing strategy: Which pricing strategy do you adopt, and why? Justify your choice with theory. Relevant chapter is 4 of the core textbook.

Distribution strategy: Which distribution strategy do you adopt, and why? Justify your choice with theory. Relevant chapter is 6 of the core textbook.

Marketing communication/promotion strategy: Which promotional tools do you adopt, and why? Justify your choice with theory. Relevant chapters are 2 and 5 of the core textbook.

Action and timing of marketing activities 15% You need to develop a chronological order to specify when the marketing activities will be carried out during the first 12 months, e.g., promotional tools you plan to use, any modifications of your new product/service, pricing changes, any adjustments of distribution channels. Please make sure they are coherent. Relevant chapters are 3-7 of the core textbook.
Evidence of reading beyond module material and core text 5% You should use references to support your ideas, opinions, and arguments. It is not sufficient to just mention, ‘this author says this’ even with references. Please list your reference in Harvard reference system. If you are not sure how to reference in Harvard style, you can download a document explaining it from the UniHub.
Integrity of sources 5% This criterion focuses on whether sources you used are credible. When your sources are all credible, then it will be a distinction in this category. Wikipedia is not a credible source hence will not achieve a pass in this category.
Conclusion 5% Say what you have written. No new material should be introduced in the conclusion. Be concise, no more than 300 words, but if you can write the conclusion within 200 words, do it.
Presentation 5% Please follow the submission guide. Failure to do so may result in a fail in this category depending on the level of breach. Use of informal language and/or ungrammatical sentences may also result in a fail in this category depending on the extent of the usage.
Harvard Referencing 5% For a distinction in this category, all references in-text and in the reference list are Harvard system. Inconsistent use of Harvard system will likely only achieve a pass in this category depending on the extent of inconsistency.
