1.  The manager of a graphic design studio wants to improve the quality of his company’s output. He decides he is going to set a goal for his staff: “We will make $100,000 in commissions within the next three months.” What are some problems with his goal? What would you suggest as a more effective goal?

2.  A company has fired a department manager after repeated complaints from his staff that he failed to meet with them for performance reviews or provide them with adequate feedback on their work. The new manager wants to use the i-deals model to build a better supervisor–subordinate relationship with her team. What are some challenges she might face in instituting this new system? What ways might she be able to overcome these challenges?
