LABORATORY ONE: ANALYTICS
The first laboratory practice and report is in the topic of Analytics. The purpose of this lab is to get you familiarised the design and use of dashboards. The tool that you are going to use is the Google analytics suite. Google has a demo account website for us to practice how to use its analytics tool. You are going to use the real data from the Google merchandise store used in this demo page. Real customers Google brand enthusiasts purchase swag and other merchandise from the site (presented here only for reference, you will not be working with this interface) CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO ACCESS THE DEMO PAGE. (YOU WILL NEED A GMAIL EMAIL ACCOUNT)
FIRST PART OF REPORT
You task is to access the Google analytics site linked to this page. It is used as “practice setting”

and you are going to create a dashboard using the following tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsSQlSoHsyM
USE YOUR NAME IN THE DASHBOARD TITLE. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE VIDEO CHOOSE ANY TWO REPORTS (WIDGETS) FOR EACH CATEGORY You are going to use it to prepare the first part of the report. PREPARE A NEW DASHBOARD WITH AT LEAST FOUR WIDGETS. Once you select the 4 to no more than 6 widgets (or reports) GET A SCREEN SHOT and then explain in one word document page:
1. the definition of each widget, 2. what is its main use and 3. how the information is analysed…
All three in one paragraph, You should have 4 to 6 paragraphs in this part of the report.
SECOND PART OF THE REPORT
Go to the site
Based in your understanding of the nature of their business activities, which variables would you monitor in a dashboard? Choose two from report category namely: real time, audience, acquisition and behavior. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PRESENT ANY DASHBOARD HERE only you select of every variable and you comment on its usefulness for this particular business. Second part of the report is approximately 8 paragraphs in extension, two short and concrete paragraphs for each variable.
