Leadership Discussion

Discussion 1

In the healthcare industry, the necessity of teamwork and collaboration is well recognized. (Yoder-Wise,2019) A number of particular conditions between leaders and supporters are required to work together. (Yoder-Wise,2019) The conceptions of the equitable appreciation of each viewpoint, the equality of power among the stakeholders, and conditions that lead to innovation are among these conditions. (Yoder-Wise,2019)

Collaboration is interprofessional when two or more professions work together for common objectives and is frequently utilized as a tool to resolve several concerns and complex situations. (Green, Johnson, 2015) The advantages of cooperation enable participants to do more than separately, serve broader groups of individuals and improve at individual and organizational levels. (Green, Johnson, 2015) It has its potential challenges, given the key characteristics of cooperation (participants from diverse cultures, high levels of engagement, mutual authority, resource sharing). (Green, Johnson, 2015) It can escalate to a conflict that can start as a well-meaning effort. Conflict should be anticipated owing to the very nature of a collaborative setting; this gives the potential for improved understanding. (Green, Johnson, 2015) Trust is a crucial aspect of research collaboration. One example is that doctors and other health workers meet to plan a patient’s health.

Discussion 2

There are so many examples that can be provided. For example, medication administration, if the communication is lacking, this activity can jeopardize the client’s care. For instance, if the team did not communicate with a family of an unconscious patient, the patient ended up with an anaphylactic reaction to the medication. Another example is when the patient expressed their concerns about having the upcoming surgery, and the nurse failed to communicate it with a provider. The communication on the professional level has to be timely to avoid any issues that may result from lack of it. Another example of a problem caused by lack of communication is a nurse who is not paying attention to the client and their family that can be perceived as ignoring or avoidance. An ignored family may complain and refuse the services of a nurse, which will put pressure on a managing team and result in another nurse’s overload.
